00:00
yeah so if you could just give me a
00:01
brief introduction of you know you're
00:03
interested in real estate I know you've
00:05
been you know you've had some success in
00:07
the investment side of things and you
00:09
trade it a little bit for in the past
00:12
and if you could you just explain kind
00:14
of from start to finish like from even
00:16
where you and I met catch me up on you
00:18
know we used to work we used to
00:19
volunteer together at Uli and then I
00:21
don't even went to law school and then
00:24
transition me into what you're doing now
00:26
and I'll start kind of like I'll start
00:28
the YouTube piece like right when when
00:32
you start talking about this perfect
00:34
okay so yeah hi everybody my name is
00:37
bald or Daniel and I go back several
00:40
years we met back at the Urban Land
00:43
Institute Toronto there was an event
00:45
volunteering at and any case from there
00:50
fast forward all the way to now a lot
00:52
has changed in my life I've gone into a
00:54
different direction but it was really
00:57
just an accumulation of my story
01:01
directing me into like the journey in
01:03
the path that I was meant to be on and I
01:05
feel like now finally at a place where
01:06
I'm starting to do something that I can
01:09
really be fully focused on and feel like
01:13
I'm doing something that's bigger than
01:14
just a business idea so yeah right now
01:17
I'm working on this venture called the
01:19
Power Hour talks with a few colleagues
01:21
of mine we're actually co-authoring a
01:24
book together and the main topic is
01:27
basically what are the things that we
01:29
learned along our our journeys and what
01:32
are the things that we've learned in
01:33
books and in other articles and videos
01:36
in any kind of way that we've learned
01:37
knowledge from other people about how
01:41
people who achieve great things or who
01:44
are high performers how do they optimize
01:48
their performance how do they create the
01:50
habits to have that kind of performance
01:53
on a consistent basis not just once a
01:56
year this person comes up with a great
01:57
idea or something so really we're just
02:00
completely focused on creating this
02:02
platform we believe in it we know how
02:05
much it's affected our lives affected
02:07
our lives and we just want to continue
02:09
seeing the benefits of it and sharing it
02:11
with others
02:13
so I'm not really focused on a
02:14
day-to-day law practice I am in the
02:16
process of writing down Theriot bar exam
02:19
and I did my lighting here at Michigan
02:22
State I learned a great deal about US
02:25
law and just I just learned a great deal
02:28
about my life about myself and yeah here
02:32
we are now so awesome I feel like you
02:36
know now more than ever
02:37
what we're all kind of like locked in
02:39
our houses for the next little bit what
02:42
you just described is gonna become
02:44
crucial for a lot of people to get by
02:47
but also to progress through the
02:49
challenges that we're facing as
02:50
individuals so how like what can you
02:53
give me like a little bit of backstory
02:54
on what prompted you you know from your
02:57
past like in being so successful in real
02:59
estate with investment in sales to
03:01
wanting to pivot into what you're doing
03:03
now and and how important that is and
03:06
what people can do best to to use the
03:09
sort of principles that you just
03:11
discussed in a time like this yeah so I
03:15
want to jump right into what we can do
03:17
right now collectively anybody that's
03:20
dealing with this traumatic situation
03:24
there's a lot out there and there's a
03:26
lot of confusing information and there's
03:28
some things that say do this there's
03:29
other things that say do that
03:32
the biggest takeaway I think that we
03:35
should all have is that we need to learn
03:36
how to trust our ones own instincts and
03:39
start doing what we know works best for
03:41
us so I know myself I'm not a person
03:44
that really does well knowing about all
03:47
this negative information constantly so
03:49
I limit how much news I consume in a day
03:51
I might see the news for 30 minutes in a
03:54
day maybe less but the point is I've
03:56
done that for myself because I know that
03:59
helps me stay on track was what I'm
04:00
trying to do and not get caught up in
04:03
this cycle of negative thinking because
04:04
it's very easy to get wrapped up in that
04:07
it's like a cycle they keep on pumping
04:10
out a new story everyone starts reacting
04:12
to it people start going and doing
04:13
things that are irrational and kind of
04:16
erratic behaviors and then we're back to
04:18
square one again where they say oh that
04:20
was actually completely wrong that that
04:22
doesn't apply to preventing the spread
04:24
of Korona now
04:25
to do this and then boom and others you
04:27
know it's another cycle of people
04:29
reacting main thing I could say is let's
04:32
all use techniques like meditation the
04:36
breathing maybe yoga getting out and
04:39
exercising and that doesn't mean that
04:41
you have to go out to the park you can
04:43
just literally go into your basement and
04:45
use the stairs in your stairway or you
04:48
can use a yoga mat and do push-ups and
04:50
use your own body to create an exercise
04:52
routine and there's plenty of people
04:53
posting great exercise workout routines
04:55
now so find what makes you feel better
04:59
and try to really focus on your wellness
05:02
and taking time for that if that means
05:05
doing something like writing a journal
05:06
about how you feel and venting do that
05:08
if it means calling a friend to express
05:11
how you're feeling do that use your
05:13
intuition and really just listen to what
05:14
your intuition is telling you so a lot
05:18
of it I guess is learning and creating
05:21
cultivating a self-awareness is an
05:24
important part was that well yeah I
05:31
interestingly enough just like how a lot
05:33
of the other people that are on board
05:36
with this project our mentors a lot of
05:41
us learn these lessons and evolved by
05:43
going through hardships by going through
05:45
one of the some of the most difficult
05:47
periods that we've ever had to face and
05:51
you know there's there's two different
05:53
acronyms for fear one is like you know
05:56
face everything and rise up or uh and
06:00
rise and another one was like just kind
06:02
of like run you know run for it or
06:04
whatever escape and the you know this is
06:08
great book it's called the obstacles the
06:11
way and I haven't read this one myself
06:14
yet but I heard someone speak about it
06:16
and this person was a highly successful
06:18
entrepreneur that launched an app that
06:22
many of us use now on a day to day basis
06:24
and that was one thing that he kept on
06:26
talking about when I was going through
06:28
my transformational phase and I was like
06:30
realizing that the the way you can
06:34
overcome your own issues is by not
06:37
trying
06:38
hard with them what I found for me was
06:42
that when I stopped trying so hard to
06:44
control when everything happened to
06:46
control when I you know did this
06:48
specific thing for my career for my goal
06:50
or when I accomplished a certain thing
06:53
for my life before I used to be caught
06:56
up in this mindset that like you know
06:57
everything's got to go according to my
06:59
plan in the way I envision it and the
07:02
moment that set me free was when I
07:04
realized that I'm actually not so in
07:07
control as much as I think I am and as
07:09
much as I'd like to be so I've embraced
07:11
just letting go and and being in the
07:14
present and it's it's done wonders for
07:17
