Georgina Island cottagers and residents will be without a ferry for at least the next month.

The Aazhaawe has been dry-docked due to a mandatory inspection that Chippewas of Georgina Island band council says could take up to six weeks to complete.

During that time, the Snake Island Water Taxi will be available to transport cottagers to and from the island.

Island residents were informed the water taxi will be running, with crew members available to assist with boarding the boat and loading of any belongings.

Vehicle transportation for any community members needing a ride to and from the water taxi will also be provided.
